I didn’t say, I’d never seen information like your talking about or that I refuse to look at it, I just don’t think it’s correct.

Shameful because I don’t believe what your preaching? Surely you don't think your opinion is on scale with a scientist's research....

Good one! Were you able to make that up all by yourself?

Go read the Iran contra report, It quite Cleary states that Ronald Reagan failed in his constitutional duty as president.
You go read it again for me and show me that part that says Reagan lied to the American people.

That is after all what you've alleged.

Lets look at some facts shall we? (Purely economic here this time)

If you don't like those, You can always go
"WAH! I DON'T LIKE THEM THEY ARE NOT BLATENTLY PRO RAYGUN"

I will examine all evidence HTH.
Want to look at some economic stats for the Reagan years?

Here you go.

If you don’t like them, you can just say, “Everybody who believes differently than me is a big ole meanie who believes in murder and meanness and... and... murder.”

Wow! You have the time to examine ALL the evidence? You should get a life.

Of course, I’m kidding I do know what you mean. You mean you’ll look at everything that serves your purpose without wasting time on anything else.

Again it seems you cannot lay of the "Anti American Brush".
So, am I missing the part where you’re pro-American?

Am I missing the part where you’re on the side of all the Americans who don’t believe Reagan is the criminal you portray? Do you support those US citizens rights to believe what they choose based on the evidence they’ve seen?

It certainly doesn’t seem so, but I could just be "marginalizing and dismissive of opposing views" while you are so open to different ideas.

I'll have to disagree with you Cerek, I think Carter is an international busybody who should stay home and plant peanuts, though an undoubtedly good man. Jesse Jackson's sraight man. And, Dramnek, I think that you are highly selective in what you read and believe. I simply have to say that I disagree with almost everything that you posted, but I am not going to go back and disect all of that. But, I am not going to argue with you.

Err ..... Mark .... did VT suceed from the Union since the last time I checked? Granted, VT is more politically removed from the rest of the country and they do have more Tree Huggers per capita (I think they also have more trees per sq mile ... must be ... 10 trees per Hugger) than any other state, but I thought they were still with us, kinda ..... hehe

NOTE: I am not in any way being serious!! I lived in VT for 5 yrs (Northfield ...well Ok, went to school in Northfield) and really enjoyed it - though the winters are a bit long for me ....
Northfield? It wasn't Norwich by any chance, was it? Been there, had friends do the summer school thing there.

I'll refrain from laughing at the tree hugger comments, I've lots of family in VT and did my BA in the University in Burlington.. LOL

Not a great line there Dramnek. Regan has been mentioned as greatest living American, not greatest living human, or humanitarian.

Did American benefit as a result of his tenure?
Did Germany benefit as a result of Hitlers tenure?

The reign of Hitler resulted in Germanys humiliation, division, subjegation by Soviets, and the countless deaths of it's citizens, destruction of property and economic ruin. His policies, while initially benefitting the German nation, brought ruin. As such, regardless of his humanitarian obscenities, he would easily be labeled, the worst thing to hit Germany.

That said, the man was a marketting genius. His marketing tactics are taught to advertising students to this day.

How recognisable is the Swastika, previously a symbol of a Christian Health organisation. We equate it with Death because of the way events unfolded. Germans at the time equated it with something else.

How recognisable is the Golden M.

Notice a correlation?

I also have to weigh in on the "if you vote for Joe, you support all Joes policies". This is obviously wrong. People vote for a myriad of reasons, one being to make sure person B doesn't get in. A vote for Joe instead of person B, may be nothing more than making sure person B doesn't get in.

Someone has to run the country. Let's not be insulting the intelligence of those who made educated decisions about electing a human who was not an autocrat. Delegation, autonomy, advice. These are all inherant concepts within a Democracy. Just as no one person runs America, neither can one person be held to blame.

Is the President responsible for parking fine increases in New York City? It's under his reign isn't it? Is the President responsible for a Policeman sodomising a criminal? It's under his reign isn't it?

Give the guys a break mate.

Just to put a new spin on this thread.....

I feel that Ronald Reagan was easily the better President....but I would have to vote Jimmy Carter ahead of him as the "Greatest Living American". Carter's best and brightest accomplishment came after his tenure as President. He has literally become a "World Class" diplomat and has contributed to many humanitarian efforts since leaving the Oval Office. He has engaged in several diplomatic efforts on behalf of the U.S. and is far more respected now than when he was our leader.

Granted, Reagan was much older after his two terms (and was already beginning to suffer the first stages of Alzheimer's), so he really didn't have as much opportunity to pursue such matters after leaving office.

Still, Jimmy Carter has gone from being a forgettable President to a world-renowned diplomat. That speaks volumes of the mans character and abilities IMHO.
I agree. As an Australian, I've often appreciated Jimmy Carters contributions in the international arena. He's more than welcome to negotiate any crisis in my book.
