Well, considering that I really don't think that they ever went to the moon in the first place, I think that Manned Missions to Mars will be a long ways away

And everyone bitching about how it costs too much need to remember, we make MOVIES that cost 100-300 Million a pop, and we DO pay for those, so I think giving Nasa this money, and each of us skip going to one Movie at a theater, and we should be just fine. We need a VISION for space. Currently, we/nasa has none. Going into low earth orbit isn't a 'vision' IMO. We need to get out there, and explore.

Just my 2 cents....
Every news report I've heard had reported the US being in some sort of echonomic trouble, and that now is the wrong time to be launching such an ambicious project.
I agree totally about what you are saying about space exploration, i think we as a people need to explore space, at least we will eventually so it might be good to start now.
Also the research done in projects such as this have other benifits here on Earth. (e.g. teflon etc)

I'm all for more missions to mars and all the local solar system planets. But why do they have to be manned? It would 4fold the cost and add to the danger and bad public relations if it fails.
