I decided to try a spoonfull after microwaving it and chilling it... It tastes like liquid Pears... I saw birds flocking to it too... they appearently eat the fruit, carry the seeds in their bellies outward, and later it uses their droppings as a sort of fertilizer and that's how the cactus spreads out... unlike that other weird one ont he golf course which just kept growing like a tree [img]tongue.gif[/img]

The way you could tell it was a fruit is because of the dried out flower on the tip. The base of the flower is the ovary (fruit). Once fertilized the flower dries out and the fruit (ovary) at the base of the flower develops. I don't think there are any poisonous cacti I know of, but you shouldn't eat ANY wild plant until you're sure you know what it is! Just a word of advice. Many plants are quite deadly or at least can make you ill.
