I didnt know monks could use weapons. I thought they fought with martial arts. Is it better to make your monk fight with a weapon or without a weapon? If they have a weapon can they still do martial arts?

Yeah they can use single handed weapons without shields, but I would use monk with fists only.

I play a monk and find using my fists more effective, then a sword and so you can use the monks cool fighting skills.

a monk can never spend more than one proficiency point on any weapon so he's limited to one attack/round. meanwhile he can attack up to four times with his fists.
you figure it out...

as far as damage goes, right from the beginning.
I mean, come on people, the monk is SUPPOSED to fight with his fists! and he should always be fighting unarmed, unless the fists can't hit a specific enemy. always!

well at level 15 or 20 your fists become +3 weapons and with stunning blow its better than Celestial Fury because you have more attacks..

what he said... by the time you acquire celestial fury, there should be no need for it.
