Elementalists are nice too. Like I said one of my character is Elementalist/mesmer. Elementalist get some usefull spell, and it will give you access to some direct attack spells you wouldn't have otherwise.

Actually I've just deleted my old characer after trying a new file as an elementalist and found it much better. I deleted that new file and recreated it so I could keep the name Jaggaer Haggert. Might consider taking mesmer as secondary consierring how much praise it's getting.

Don't worry to much about your secondary. About 3/4 of the way through the game you can change your secondary to any of the other classes.

Only problem with giving up your second profession
and replaceing it with another you loose 50% of
your hard earned skill points and pretty much screwing up a character you have spent three days
to 6 weeks to build.
I have found it's alot better to just start over at and earlyer stage in the game.
Since you have just started the game build three characters and play each one to about level 7
and finish all missions in the presearing and
then go to the acadamy. Then after the acadamy
mission and you have reached the next stage in
the game save that character and build another
character with two different skills and take them
to the same point and repete with a third.
By the time you finished the presearing three times you will have a real good view of the
characters and what they are capable of and which
one you enjoy the most and at the same time you
end up with alot of extra storage area with the extra characters.

You can change back to your old proffesion at any time you like, so you lose nothing.

My brother's main character is a Warrior/Mesmer, but sometimes he like to change it to Warrior/Monk for farming or some different pvp.

Excatly you loose nothing. You can try out a few skills or buy them all at ember light camp if you wish.

Put it this way I have almost unlocked all skills on just 1 character from changing professions.

Be careful because there is a glitch in the
game they can't seem to fix. I have reported
it a number of times and the glitch is as follows.

First you change you second profession and after
a few days you deside you don't like it and think
you will just try another second profession.
This is where the glitch can occure. If you switch
to yet another second profession your original can
be lost unless you go back return to your original
second profession and then go try another second
profession.
Each time you try a different second profession
retrive your origilal second profession first then
go to the next profession to try.
This is the only solution Arenanet has come up
with so far.

AS I said this is a glitch and doesn't happen
everytime. But is has happened and has been
reported close to 100 times.

I lost all my second profession warror skills
all 56 of them when I was expermenting with
swapping second professions.

Since then I have changed my second profession
on two other characters and once changed the
second profession twice by using the way I
stated above.
T-D-C is partically right except for one thing
when you change your second profession at the
latter stages of character creations you trade
a complete characters second profession for a second
profession that gives you only 4 or 5 skills to start
with and when it takes 10,000 points to make a skill
point thats 560,000 points to get all the skills in
that profession and if you never go back to that
original second profession you do loose 560,000 hard
earned points.

so consider what your doing before you jump into it.
Thats why I suggested just going through the first
pre-searing with a character then try another to see
if you like it better.

I've finished the game with 10 characters but I've
taken more than 30 past ascention and It only takes
me a weekend to go from level 1 to Ascention and level 20.

GOOD LUCK and see you in the game

I've never actually heard of that bug before.
And it's 15 000 points for a skill point. And there are 75 skills per class, not 56.

Its easy for me to get skill points. Take a few solo runs outside Droks in the troll caves and not only will you get some good cash but also alot of experence. Combine that with the experence scrolls and its easy enough to get those points.

Or just unlock all you skills with faction which is even eaiser to get.

From all teh GW time I've had in game to all the guild wars forums I've been to I have NEVER seen that bug in ANY bug reports.
