Well after alot of thinking today I went to see a friend of mine
that builds Gaming computers for a profession. I wanted to stay
under $2000.00 U.S. and said to him what can I do with only 2K.
He told me to have a seat and he started running numbers and
and parts through his computer and this is what he came up with
and said I'd have it in 5 working days, giving me plenty of time
to set up before Oblivuion is delivered to me see below.

Intel Duel Core Pentium D 3.4 Processor...........$419.00
Asus 945P Chipset Motherboard.....................$169.00
ATI X1600XT PCI-E 256 Graphic Card................$229.00
2ea @ 1GB DDR2 667 RAM.........$124.00ea..........$248.00
250GB SATA Hard Drive 7000 RPM....................$179.00
DVD+-RW-DL Sony...........................................$69 .00
7.1 on board sound...........................................$0 0.00
Antec Sonata II Black ATX Case w/650Watt PSU.......$199.00
19" LCD w/DVI flat Pannel Toshiba Monitor..............$349.00
Operation System Windows XP PRO service pack 2 .......$000.00 N/C
as well as a number of acessories and sales Tax .....$111.66
__________________________________________________ ________
for a grand total of ...........................$1,972.66 delivered next tuesday.
Plus 3 year replacement warranty on all parts.

I checked with 4 manufactures and they all gave me a price of over $3,100.00
one was for $3,460 for the same configuration plus all had only 1
year warranty and service.

I think I made a good deal and anyway you look at it, I'll be
totally ready for Oblivion. YAHOOOOO.

Awesome system you're going to have there, CB! I'd love to hear about the quality of that video card because I have been eyeing it. Keep us informed on how your system games for you.

Yeah it's quite common knowledge that puter prices are way too high for the components that you can get. I had my pc custom built for 370€ 18 months ago, and lately upgraded it for 300€ and now I'm running at recommended specs. You could have saved more money by choosing something ELSE than pentium processor y'know .

Hmmm, If you want my advice, I would re-think the x1600XT, its in the new range, but it is still only a mid range card and is far from the best, and with the looks of the rest of the system, it would be holding your beast back, if you can, go for the X1800 or the X1900 I just say this, becuase with the top of the line card, you have a much better chance of running Oblivion at max settings and will be better off in 6 months when all the current cards are classed as crap

As I said had $2000.00 U.S. to spend and as for the X1600-XT being a mid line
card it tied most of the tests with the 1700 and 1800 series and that was when
useing a Pentiunm 4D Duel core processor. But when useing the AMD 64 processor
the 1600 was a bit slower but still not to the point of being considered a
midline Card.
The thing I looked at beside price is all the 1600--1900's have 3D graphics
through its unique ultra-threaded core architecture and Avivo video and
display technology. The X1600 is CrossFire Ready compaired to the 1800 they
are not that much different as far as what the human eye can detect.
Now Robert (my friend that has build more than a thousand Game computers and is
building mine) showed me all the test features from all the ATI X800 thru X1900
and the nVidia line from 4800 thru 7800 stats and the Prices of all at his cost.
The X1600XT won out buy $300.00 and the fact that is is being called the most
stable Graphics card that ATI has build to date. It runs cooler and can maintain
the staballity at higher tempatures then the 1800,1900,6800,and 7800 only thing that beat it in the temparture range test was the nVidia 7800 w/512 DDR3 RAM.
But to go any better at this time would put me over the $2000.00 range so in a
couple months I'll buy a second X1600 and utilize the X-fire option.
He(Robert)is buying the pair and going to hold the second card for me until
this summer when I have the extra $230.00 for it so I'll have the matched set.

Nice system. I wouldn't worry about the video card, it will run the game just fine.

It doesn't matter if you get 70 frames per seconds or 30, the human eye can only see 30, so anything above is just overkill and a big waste of money.

A little Imformation about ATI X1300,X1600 & X1800
Graphics Cards from Radion.

Thanks to its superior 3D performance, the new Radeon X1300,
X1600 and X1800 models offer unsurpassed rendering speed in
their respective price segments. Offering full support for
Microsoft’s DirectX 9 with Shader Model 3.0 and OpenGL 2.0,
they can run games at full detail settings even in the highest
screen resolutions.

ATI’s new graphics cards of the Radeon X1000 series are built
on the most modern and most efficient 3D architecture the world
has ever seen. The 90 nanometer production process used only by
ATI allows the graphics processor to reach unprecedented clock
speeds with low power requirements and moderate heat dissipation.

The 512-bit Ringbus memory controller integrated in the Radeon
X1800 and X1600 processors ensures that data is quickly transported
to the graphics processor. The “Ultra-Threading Dispatch Processor”
is also unique and guarantees that the graphics processor’s ALUs are
always operating at full capacity.

The 1800 was ATI's atempt to match the nVidia 7800
and it didn't so they built the X1900 & that did
just barely in some tests and by alot in others
and tied in a couple other tests.

"Basically" the only real difference between the
1600,1800 & 1900 is a few transistors a bigger heat sink
and some overclocking.

The X1600 does beat the nVidia 6800 in 68% of
all high end tests and the other 32% were in the ranges
beyond anything used in any PC game now on the shelves
or anything planned for the next few years. This was from
reviews from PC gamer, PC Magizine, and from 4 different
sites on Graphics Cards ratings.

So this above and the price's listed below is where
I desided to buy the X1600. The money I saved will help
me to buy that second card

ATI
Prices:
X1600.....$229.00 to $299.00
X1800.....$579.00 to $729.00

nVidia
Prices:
6800......$399.00 to $599.00
7800......$679.00 to $799.00

Prices vari from company to company so shop for them!!

Now I can hardly wait for
Oblivilon and my new Computer
to arive at my desk so I can
loose myself in the Elder Scrolls
once again at HI Def this time!

I gather you haven't seen the trailer or screenshots then, becuase if you think an X1600XT is gonna run this game at more than 30 fps (I assume on high settings) then im afraid you're very mistaken

And don't get me wrong Crimson, I'm not saying it's a crap card, but I was just trying to say that there is better, and you are gonna have one sweet system, with the only thing looking to hold it back being the video card (not trying to say its gonna be slow )
