If I play an elf, or any other race with "wizard" listed as the favored class, does that apply to specialist wizards too?
For example, will an elf rogue 4/diviner 8 have an experience penalty? I know a rogue 4/wizard 8 wouldn't...

Specialists count as their favored class too.

I'm fairly sure that "wizard" doesn't include specialist wizards. For example, gnomes have illusionist, a specialist wizard class, as their favoured class.

Gnomes are restricted to illusionist, but if it says "wizard" you can do any.
