What's the best place to hang around, if I want to find these creatures? I'm kind of wanting something from them

year, in the unexplored parts of Mt. Gigas and on arnika-trynton road.
The strange thing with that bats is, that in one game they drop wings without end and in another game you have to kill hundreds to get one

Unexplored area, definetly!

Run Xray, keep an eye on incoming monster groups. Save before each encounter, and when you have a save just before a large group of vampires, re-load and re-play the encounter till you get a drop. Took forever for me to get any last game, then got a ton in a sinle encounter.

The contagion bats in this area also have my vote as the single best effort per exp. in the game...

Around what level are the contagion bats? My group is sort of at around levels 23-24, so if the bats aren't 20+ I think I'll prefer the (currently) level 23 scorchers for xp

Thanks for the tips. I'm off the Mt.Gigas caves then. Wish me luck

Edit: only 3 reloads, once I found a pack of vampire bats... And the contagion bats really were pretty nice xp considering how easy they were...

If you make sure they take a lot of damage in the action that kills them, all the mobs will drop more stuff.

Ok, this is probably just a newbie question, but anyway...

What are all of the "critter parts" that I keep finding after fights? Such as skin from Ironback alligators, claw from Piercer Modal, spider silk from spiders, etc., etc. What is the use/do I need to keep most of this stuff? So far, I have tried to keep one item of each, usually sell off the rest (tiny cash, but clears out inventory). Any hints/spoilers (as long as not too bad, please) welcomed!

@greystone:

antone in Arnika and ferro in rapax castle use that stuff to do costum work. You dont need more than 1-2 of each item. go to both and speak to them "custom"..they will tell you all.

Ok, are there 2 types of vampire bats?
I only find 'bat vampires' in Mt.Gigas level 14.
However, I remember seeing another type of bat called
'vampire bats' level 16.
Now which one gives the vampire bat wings?
(I've fought the bat vampires like 20 times and they
still haven't dropped one) =(

Vampire bats are natural creature like the ones in real life that drinks cow's blood and are not undead, was mildy perturbed until I thought about..

Bat vampires are vampires in bat form and hence are undead, and do not drop wings..

Both can drain you.
