what are those good for? i killed dragon and checked the whole place again wearing mask. did i miss something?

When you're wearing the mask, you'll be able to see (and therefore kill) the Fire Elemental that is guarding the tomb of King Strohm. Since you were already wearing it you probably didn't notice, but without the mask it attacks you and you can't defend yourself. You can keep it and use it as a helmet for mages or thieves (it protects against critical hits)

Are you sure the mask protects against critical hits? I don't think it says so.

No it doesn't say so in the item description but it does say so in shadow keeper. Trust me, it does protect you, even though that's not it's intended use.

Yes, the mask does protect your characters or NPCs who cannot wear helm from critical hits.
