Crap crap crap crap crap... echo.... ! !! !!! !!!! !!!!

Blah. I made my MSN account two years ago, and my e-mail address has changed since then. But it didn't matter re MSN. I have always been able to just upgrade no problem, and when someone wants my MSN addy to add me to their list, I give them my old e-mail address, and it always works.

Welll, not this time LOL. I downloaded the new version just now, and tried to log in but it said my username was not valid (which is my old e-mail address). So that sucks, I guess now I'll have to start from scratch? Make a new account and add everyone again? That sucks LOL

It did it to me as well, so you are not alone.

On one of my rigs after a reboot only the 5.0 was there.

One the other rig, after the reboot, both.

I used the program

http://www.webmasterfree.com/regcleaner.html

Regcleaner to take the 4.x MSM out of my start up and now everything works right on my second computer as well.

It did that to me too but I just went back and typed in the password manually (because I had it on auto-signin) and it worked.

And what I ment by the colour being weird was that... well, its so much more futuristic then the old version, it scared the hell out of me when I first looked at the login screen.

Does anyone know how to get rid of those damn advertisements at the side?

Messenger 5.0 for XP isn`t out yet. That would probably be your problem - you`re using a version that doesn`t work with your OS.
Go back to 4.7 (download here) for now; it shouldn`t have asked you to update.

Lennon, I was thinking the same thing, but after uninstalling both, I was looking for the manual download for 4.x and did find the XP download for 5.0 .

msn.com is still carrying messenger 4.7 . NO sign of an XP version 5.0 yet.
