But why bother? You're far better off putting all your energy into making your fighters invincible rather than worrying about whether your cleric can take on a pit fiend single handed.

Use them for defensive spell casting, turning undead and healing. If you insist on tanking a cleric play a dual class or multi class fighter/cleric it's far less hassle and it's far more productive.

And no clerics do not get a second attack at high level, only fighters get more than one attack a round and they get an extra half an attack every seven levels.


As for tanking a mage?????? Why not use your ranger as your primary spell caster while you're at it.
