I heard that to upgrade the items that you find in ToB you need

6 star sapphires
2 rouge stones
1 emerald
2 king's tear
1 diamond

Does anybody know what items you can upgrade in ToB because if I don't think I'll need/use the upgraded item then I will sell the stones (i need some quick cash). Thanks.

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving in everyone in the U.S.!

OK, doing this from memory so probably not 100% correct:

HUGE ITEM SPOILERS

Dagger of the Stars: 5 Star Sapphires
Bard Gloves: diamond, emerald, star sapphire, rogue stone
you need rogue stones for the quiver and case of plenty and king's tears for the bag of plenty.
You also need gems for the Paladin bracers I think, but I forgot which ones.
To improve the Baldsinger chain, Protection from Normal Weapons scroll
To improve the Cloak of Protection +2 you need scrolls of invisibility and Improved Haste.
You can also upgrade lots of items like the Holy Avnger and the Flail of the Ages, but you don't need gems for that. Cespenar will tell you what items he needs.

EDIT: BTW, if you are in TOB, cash shouldn't be a problem so I would keep the gems anyway... you can always sell them later

ANOTHER EDIT: *sigh*
Um, that should be Bladesinger, not Bald Singer *smacks herself*

Read the manual, it tells you all the gems you need to keep to upgrade. Basically, all the neat lookin ones, along with the ones that sell for 500+ up.

Dagger of the Star: 5 Star Sapphires

Quiver of Plenty: 1 Rogue Stone

Case of Plenty: 1 King's Tear

Bag of Plenty: Just cash( walkthrough is wrong)

Wondrous Gloves: 1 Rogue Stone, 1 Star Sapphire, 1 Emerald, 1 Diamond

Other stuff you might want to set aside: Ring of Fire Resistance, Ring of Invisibility, Protection from Normal Weapons scroll, Antidote potion, Invisibility scroll, Improved Haste scroll.

PS: You only need cash to upgrade the Paladin Bracers( which still sucks anyway).

Dundee, do you know what do the Antidote and Ring of invisibility do? Those are the only ones I haven't figured out so far.
Thanks in advance

Oh and yes, in the Manual there is a list of all the weapons you can upgrade and the items needed for it

No problem. They are used to upgrade the Thieves' Cloak. You get this item from the Maze section of Watcher's Keep( level 3). You have to be of a certain alignment to get it though, otherwise the Demon will not give you the quest that is necessary to get it.
