i have gone down to the lower sector in the cult of the eyeless quest do i need to go all the way down there and what do i get if i do?

i have got edwins nether scroll and i told him that he should use it to help the party was this the right thing do?
will edwin work on the scroll without my help?
does it take time, quests or chapters to use the scroll?

Yes, you do need to go to the lowest level to complete the cult of the eyeless quest. In return you get a shed load of experience and a decent shield. You also get the cleric stronghold quests if you are a priest.

I've never had Edwin in my party, so I can't help you there.

Edwin figures out the scroll by himself and uses it. You don't have to do anything except see what happens.

That's not true Edwin won't use the scroll if you tell him it's party treasure. You have to let him keep the scroll for himself and only then will he use it after a certain amount of time.
