Preferably free/free trial Anyone got any ideas?

I use Audacity. It can do pretty much anything.

No problem, here we go.

File -> Open the mp3

Drag over the part of the song you want

Edit -> Trim

Switch to the Time Shift tool

Drag the selection to the beginning of the track

File -> Export as mp3

It's quite a fiddly method, I don't know if there's another way... haven't explored half of what the program can do. Anyway, hope it helps.

I open the MP3

I highlight the bit I want.

I dont have the option to trim...

[Edit] I'm an idiot, nevermind (the track wasn't stopped, just paused)

Hmm... strange. I'm running an older version, perhaps they renamed it or something. Do you have this button on the tool panel?

If not, I guess you could copy the selection and paste it into a new project.

Edit: Ok, cool.

Isn't it strange how us internet types all use the same software? Hehe. Audacity is the perfect tool for passing very boring afternoons. A bit like photoshop, actually.

Jaradu, you should be an online tutor. That was very well diagrammed and explained. Well done.
