I now own BG II, I guess I could have bought it in the store instead of ebay since I ended up paying the same price thanks to customs, but oh well. I will be on this forum more in the near future but first I am going to finish my BG game I am currently playing.

One question though when I start should I start with one of my old BG characters or one of the newer classes and races?

Your old character would be more powerful (I take it you made her read stat-raising tomes). New chars start at 89000XP. If you import a char from TotSC, she will be at 161000XP.
But it is very hard not to take sorcerer or some kit . Old BG1 classes now appear too bare to me.

Congrats on the new purchase! I just got TOB so I bet you are really excited just like me. BGII was awesome, so I had to continue the experience. You'll love it.

Vedran, you can take kits from an imported character.

I imported my thief from TotSC and it immidiatly asked me what kit I wanted.

I like the fact they did that, I didn't want to play a pure thief in SoA. But I did want to play a thief with the "Tome Stat Enhancements".

Thanks for the answers. I am thinking about importing one of my characters and taking the kit. I am thinking about using my very first character a Paladin and using the Undead hunter kit or the Cavalier kit. I am thinking undead hunter though because I just had a very interesting experance in BG with DSotSC were I ran into a bunch of wraith and my thief went from being at level 6 to level 3 and it wasn't even in an expansion area, luckily I checked my stats before saving and just reloaded. Also I want to use my first character because I played BG like it was me in the game and importing him would just continue the role playing aspect the way I would actually do it. Now if I really enjoy BG II I will probaly go back and experiment a little with alignments, and other characters, and even a female like I did with BG.

WHAT?
Now you got me, I've never exported my chars to BG2.
Is mage given an option to become a sorcerer/wild mage? If so, then fighter would be given option to become monk/barbarian. (So that is probably not true.)

(So that is probably not true.)[/QB][/QUOTE]Nope, you just get the option of changing kits within your class. So, when you go into the game it gives you, if you're a fighter, the option to go regular fighter, kensai, wizard slayer or berserker. Since barbarian is not a kit of fighter, you cannot go through BG1 as a fighter then, in BG2, switch to a barb.

Q to anyone who knows: Can you kit characters dualled in BG1?

I'm pretty sure you get to chose a kit, about 80% sure. You will only be given the choice for your first class though. So a thief->mage will be given a choice of theif kits, and stay as a normal mage (even if you dualed to a specialist mage in BG)

You´re not the only one. I´ve been desperately trying to get BG2 too. You can´t get it from stores anymore, so the annoying search from the likes of eBay starts. And already it seems the box of BG2 is really magical, an unbelieveable bad luck has treated it with bad hand. First, it ran lost in post, then when it was found, a truck ran over it, but somehow the CD's survived. I should be getting it this week, so you will probably see my nick in here too, and often.

I had a straight fighter from bg1 with 161,000 exp. but the kensai class kit was closed to me. Is this a bug?
