Druid Bug?

Anyone notice that you can put metal armor on Jaheria. I've got her in Full plate +1 and she can still cast spells. Does anyone know if you can do this with your main character? This is just for curiosity sake as I have really no desire to keep Jaheria or play a Druid.

I believe Jaheira is a Fighter/Druid and if you've read the instruction book it would say that Fighter/Druids can use any armour but weapon restrictions are the ones for the Druid, that's what it said in the BG I and IWD instruction books.

Well thats just strange. I did read the manual, and there it was clear as day. But It seems to me to be a departure form AD&D rules, cause I though Druids couldn't wear metal armor period, Even a fighter/druid had to take it off to cast.

I would highly recomend you keep Jaheria. Theres quite a few plot twists that involve her and (at least as far as I can guess) a love interest. Additionally she is a Harper and has ties to Suldanesselar. Which begs the question... Just how many of the side quests are available sans certain NPC's???

Druids are supposed to stay with leather or animal hide armor, but I think that the creators are treating the Druid class as Cleric. Clerics can wear practically any armor. As for spellcasting, they are allowed to cast druidical spells with allowable armor. It's mainly mages and sorcerors that are limited to spellcasting without any armor.

Fighter/Druids under the AD&D rules, can use Metal Armour, but are restricted to Druid weapons, i.e. Club.
If there wasn't this advantage, what would the point of being multi-class of this type? I suppose you to get fighter THAC0 improvements, but no mastery
This in effect turns Jaheria into a specialised Cleric...but very restricted, since you have ,limited weapon options, and have to split experience.

Be grateful she can wear that sort of armour...she makes a good blocker for your mages, when the fighters charge off to hunt enemy mages.

I guess I haven't played PnP DnD in a long time. Used to be that druids could not cast in metal armor cause it was against their naturalistic beliefs. I prefer a true cleric though anyways, cause they get more spells. That's what I am running now. A human ranger/cleric mix. Seems to do pretty good as a cleric with the rangers hit points and stealth.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, for those that don't know it yet, 3rd edition allows a human to multi-class now. Gone is the restriction that a human can only run one class at a time. I guess this is because 2nd edition basically removed level limits for demi-humanoids. So you can play whatever you want, no matter the race. Odd to see a half/orc Paladin, huh?
