Since when did they suddenly come into the range of hand guns? And if pilots are as trigger-happy as you say...they don`t deserve to have the kind of power over life and death that they do. According to press reports, planes had been recieving AAA fire for serveral days from this and other areas in the vicinity. That doesn't sound like small arms to me.

Calm down, Scholarcs - try and keep this debate civilized, even if you believe the subject matter isn't.

As general comments to everyone...I would have thought you'd have all learned by now:

You DO NOT have the right to be offended just because someone else has a different opinion to you - just as they have no right to be offended that you have a different opinion to them.

You DO have the right to be offended if someone attacks you personally while you are expressing a point of view.

If the very subject material of this thread offends you - use your BACK button and read something else. Nobody forces anybody to read anything here. As long as people are adhering to our ToS they are entitled to post what they want (excepting religion which we have a temporary moratorium on).

In closing, we reserve the right to shut down any thread that we perceive has the potential to turn into a flame war. None of us have the time or inclination to mediate in disputes between people who should be mature enough to exercise self-control in discussing a serious issue.

This will be your only warning to keep the lid on your tempers.
