I've always been a fan of magic-users in any fantasy setting, whether RPG or Hexen style games.

I like the concept of the Wild Mage, but also like the "limited flexibility" of the Sorcerer.

I'd like to get your opinions on a couple of things. First, which subclass (Wild or Sorc) do you prefer, and list any reasons.

Second, and most important, which one is tactically more difficult to solo? With a Wild Mage, you have the specialist number of spells, and access to all spells (and exp from scrolls, but that's irrelevant for soloing), but you have to be careful and considerate of your spell selection. The Sorcerer has actually more spell castings available at the higher levels than a specialist/Wild Mage, but a very limited selection of spells (although many are of limited usefulness or are cheaply available in scroll or wand form).

So I guess the main question is, which of the two classes is more of a challenge in the long run? Versatility Vs. Power is what it comes down to I guess.

Heh heh, Wild Mage is definitely not a powergamer's choice, but it is possibly the funniest class to play with. A Conjurer would better fit the powergamer.

Sorcerer however, is the pinnacle of powergaming when it comes to spellcasting.

So for a bigger challenge, I will go with the Wild Mage.

If not a Sorcerer casting total oblivion, then a Cavalier meting out justice. Otherwise, I think I will just be a Blade and torture my enemies with, "My Heart Will Go On".

Wild mage would be alot harder to play solo. its not that powerful unless you get a wild surge.
