Roadkill, you don't really see that much around here where I live. The most you will see are usually birds, possums, or even mice (weird). There are those times though when I see a dog on the side of the road and I have to turn my head, considering I own one myself.

I always feel sad when I see animals that have been hit by cars on the road (I really hate the term roadkill - seems so flippant ). I hate to see wildlife that has been killed; so much of their habitat has been destroyed already and the ones that still have homes get killed by cars. And I hate to see dogs and cats that have been killed because it is so easy to make sure your pet is secure and not able to get onto the road to be hit. There's a cat that lives up the street and it sleeps right in the middle of the road. I can't believe it hasn't been killed after all this time.

LOL once when my mum was a new driver she was waiting at a railway crossing and a sheep ran into her car, making a bit dent. The worst thing for her was, absolutely no one believed that was what had happened and they just assumed she'd run into something.

On the outskirts of Las Vegas lies a beautiful state park called Red Rock canyon. I was driving through it in a rental car on an overcast day, taking in the amazingly beautiful scenery, when I saw a section of pink garden hose on the road ahead of me. I was amazingly pissed...after all, what kind of pig would leave trash in a national park? I started to complain about this to my wife as I drove closer. Ten feet from it, it started to move. As I drove past it, it reared up and struck at the driver's side door of the car. By the time I realized what had just happened, I was 20 feet past it and watching it disappear into the brush from my rear-view mirror...

Deer are down right viscious critters! When I was in school, someone I knew had just gotten a brand spankin new "Lieutenant Mobile" - convertable mustang. He was driving down I89 when a deer leaped off of a roadside cliff and INTO the car through the nice softtop!!! No, this isn't a scene from a Faraley Bros. movie .... this happened! Back when I delivered appliances for Sears, I drove one of these. I hit a pheasant, or should I say it hit me, right in the center of this bubble windshield! Scared the living crap out of me and my partner, and put quite a set of cracks in the windshield. My boss was pissed. [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img]
