Game won't play

Hi All

I have just registered today and purchased the Ultimate Collection.

I am having a problem with both IWD1 & IWD2, I installed IWD1 then HOW then TOTL but when I load the game the intro plays and then I can choose any number of charaters then click done. The game screens starts the loading process but the screen freezes as the bar reaches maximum. Ctrl Alt Delete shows game not responding. Also installing IWD2 plus bonus CD and 2.01 patch the same happens.

I have discovered that changing IWD1 graphics settings to Open GL 3D acceleration will cure the problem and the games plays fine. However this option is not available in IWD2 graphics settings - Does anyone know how I can get around this problem?

My system is Athlon 1900XP 512MB, ram G-Force 3 TI500 drivers 7184, Windows XP home edition with SP2.

Is there not a config programme for IWD2 that allows you to change the settings without opening the game itslef?

Since I assume you already checked the config program and did not find the option, you might want to try this

open your ***.ini file for IWD1 (cant remeber the exact name, maybe icewind.ini?). Under [program options] or [game options] find any lines that concerning acceleration or openGL (e.g "3Dacceleration=1"). Open the IWD 2 ***.ini file (iwd2.ini?) and then copy those lines which you found fromm iwd1 to iwd2 ini file (also under program options or wherever those lines were).

I'm not at home so dont have those files so cant tell you exactly which lines.

Also you can try changing compatibility... rightclick on iwd2.exe, choose compatibility tag and make it compatible with previous windows versions.

i just got the icewind dale games, and i am having the same problem. the first icewind dale works when i turn the 3d open gl on, but both games wont work in the 2d mode. i havent tried that with icewind dale 2 to see if it would work.

the thing is that i dont want to play them in 3d mode like alboy, i want to play them in 2d mode. is there anything i can do to make them work in 2d mode? id appreciate any help, thanks [img]smile.gif[/img] .

Hi, I am having the same problem,i tried to change on the .ini file, but still dont work if there is anything else i should do please help, i just want to play dosent matter the mode.

i figured out why it wasnt working in 2d mode. if you have a nvidia card, try using older video drivers for it [img]smile.gif[/img] . i had the up to date video driver, and for some reason, it made the 2d not work... once i installed an older nvidia driver for the video card, the 2d worked, and the game ran perfectly [img]smile.gif[/img] .

so try uninstalling your video drivers, and install an older version, and see if it works [img]smile.gif[/img] .

i just used the one that was on the cd thats for the video card, i believe its 53.04. i think you can find older drives on the nvidia driver download site [img]smile.gif[/img] .
