I bought a HP 6110 all-in-one yesterday. I set it up, installed the software and everything was fine 'til I tried to use the "start scan" button. It didn't work so I went to the HP site. I downloaded some stuff I thought would help. It seemed to make it worse!
I called HP support and have spent about 5 hours with them. We just can't get the software installed again 'cos it keeps saying it's already in there and to just plug it in When we do that it starts install then says it can't find some files. The guy at HP told me to download Housecall, a free virus software.
I can't run it 'cos it says during install that it can't find the Netscape plugins? I don't use netsc anymore, I put in firefox.
I downloaded the free version of AVG virus scan, which found nothing.
I would really like some suggestions. Please

I think at first it was the wizard, but then we removed everything and tried to use the CD.

Yup. We removed everything from the geredit etc and it's still seeing the stuff we deleted.

The AVG thing found some Trojan stuff (on the other PC though, not the one with the printer), but it doesn't remove them. Guess you have to pay for that.

have you tried rolling back your OS? if I have problems like that, when I do a system restore, it wipes it clean...

That might work. Your Windows 'help' file (under your start menu) will tell you how to do a system restore.

well, guess I should find out if you have XP or not....if so, go to Start>all programs>Accessories>system tools>system restore if you are a different Os, then I am not sure...

Ok, I found it on this PC and I'm waiting for the troubled one to finish another virus san to give it a try.

Are there some virus programs out there that are free and if not, good ones I can buy?
