Human Paladin / COT or Elven Monk. I'm getting a kick out of my Human Barbarian right now. Rage is good.

Human Monk.
Human for the extra skill points and quick to master, plus if you multiclass, your highest class is always your favored class. I like the monk's combination of melee abilities and good saving throws & magic resistance. They get so many good feats for free that they become ridiculously powerful at high levels. Since they are not your average armored tank, you can play them differently, even maximize stealth if that is your style. I see that there is a new premium module out, Pirates of the Sword Coast, but that is for level 5 to 10 characters. I won't be able to use my epic monk, but I think I may get it and start a wizard or sorceror, just to get a feeling for playing as a primary spell caster. , , , , Though adding a level or two of monk to a wizard or sorceror would be worth it just for the monk's AC bonuses and ability to deflect deflect arrows. |

I also like playing Monks, I just think the extra speed is great, I've just finished the OC with a monk with 4 barbarian levels for that extra 10% speed bonus. I just flew over all the maps. It will be a shock when I start a new character and I move at ‘normal’ speed!!

Yes, the monk's speed is really great. Add an equiped item with haste and they are really fast. When I started HOTU and lost all my equipment from the OC, my monk seemed slow. Potions of haste are fine for battle, but they don't last long enough for just exploring dungeons. You do have to be careful your monk doesn't leave his or her henchmen too far behind though, or you might end up in a fight by yourself. Of course, you can run away just as quickly and lure that monster back someplace where you can gang up on it instead.

I would have to say:
Elven Bardic Ranger I love bards so much, they are by far my favourite class of all time, and I choose the ranger for the two hands weapon feats. In roleplaying I think that Bards are the absolute cream of the crop because they have so much scope and playabilty. If I want a powerful character however, I have to go for the Monk aswell. Bloody strong and deadly. Plus the cool glowing eyes! I once made a multiclass Monk, with 2 levels of Sorcerer so I could get the Red Dragon Disciple, and by god did she pack a punch (quite literally). --Kestrel--
