Hear ye, Hear ye, the Annual Ironworks Chess Tournament Is About to Begin!!

(it is the first contest but who cares? )
The Games would be held in Yahoo. Official opening of the Tournament is 6 days hence: Saturday (10.7.2004). The dead line for signing in would be as referee says -look at the 29 post. There would be no "set time" for plays, instead a deadline for a play will be implemented by the referee. For example, every one will have to play 2 games in 48 hours with his opponent.

The games would be 10 minutes per player. Results would be published in this thread by players. Please sign here, and give please your Yahoo nickname. Everyone will play with every other player 2 games (with different colours naturally).

Please publish the results here.
The winner shall be determined by the number of points (1 for victory, 0.5 for draw and 0 for loss). If a tie should emerge 2 tie breaking games would be held, with the same rules.

Give suggestions and Sign Up !!

This upcoming Saturday? Blargh. I'd be part of it, but that's the day I'm going to be leaving town for something, so not likely to have access to a computer much that day.

5 minutes per player? I suggest at least 10. =/ 5 is too short. I mean, I really don't think that there are that many people here who play chess...

Anyhow, I'll play. goldrush945 on yahoo. But could you please make the tourney a bit later? I really can't wake up at 6 AM. 3 hours would be good, but 2 hours later would also be fine.

Jaradu, you know that it's GMT, right?

Blargh... I'm getting all mixed up with the time zones. Could we just set it at Ironworks time?

As much as I'd probably enjoy it, 10 AM GMT is about 2AM here... and I'm usually rather sleeping at that hour.

If you're up at like 8, depending on when people have supper, we could have a start time in about 18h00 GMT. IMO, however, it's easier to coordinate using IW time. My time is all screwed up because of daylight savings time.

The problem with co-ordinating it in Ironworks time, is that you can change the IW time zone in your profile.

Hmmm, I think that's about 4 or 5 in the morning in my time zone. I think I'll have to sit this one out, though it sounds like fun. Black Baron, you have my best wishes for the success of your tourney! Anyone care to try some email chess?

10 am GMT is far too early in the morning (or late at night) in the Pacific time zone. Have fun without me!
