Cloudy's Cafe, a conversation zone, January 8, 2009
Previous Cafe is http://www.ironworksforum.com/forum/...d.php?t=100183
Cloudy's Cafe Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie. The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines: this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone * no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner * any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences) -a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately! * Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!) * do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it. Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course! The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Evening all.
I have a test today, and I got two hours sleep on my friend's sofa last night. And then walked half an hour back in the freezing cold back to my halls. In hindsight, maybe I should have got a taxi.

Ugh! I have a test as well. The teacher had the "brilliant" idea that you have to have references from ALL of the books on the course.
The problem is, I don't have one of them, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this. It's expensive and only showed up as a reference on one single lecture, and only in general terms, notspecific pages or chapters. To add insult to injury, there's only three copies available in an entire university with 30 000+ students, and you can only borrow home one. There's 60 students in my class and probably not more than 10, at most, have bothered to buy the book.

Wow. Suddenly, that makes my test look not too bad by conparrisson.
I am back home now, at last, so I'm going to go pass out on my bed until my next lecture at four.

Those were the days... home at 8, sleep until 2... either side of the clock...

Anyway, I'll just ace my way out of this one. I write the paper using the other books I have, then next week run the library early in the morning to snatch the reference copy before anyone else does, and selects some random sentence to quote to fill the quote "quota".

Aaargh, stress.
Pretty much, I have exams on minerals, which is the part of the course I am worst at. I'm ill, and getting hardly any sleep because my throat is so bad and I can't breathe. I'm also going through a bad patch (I've had a fight with depression for about a third of my life, although I have been better the last couple of years). Also I have decided to go and get my ears pierced again on Saturday (with my sister and boyfriend along for support - It hurts like hell) but most of the people I know are complaining at me not to get it done. The lack of support is a bit annoying.

Sorry, but I'm pretty jaded with the whole drink, get drunk, puck, pass out and what ever else stories.
They just found an 18 year old boy who decided to walk home on New Years eve, frozen to death. He was waiting for a ride, then decided to just walk, without telling anybody. It's stupid and senseless on too many levels.

...generally I always walk home on a night out. It's usually me and my mate who get sick of waiting for taxis in the middle of town where all the clubs are, and then walk "up the road a bit" to find a taxi. Then we keep walking, find trolleys, etc. etc. and usually end up home. Never frozen to death before like.
