Rumor has it that he developed his idea of the center of the galaxy by
watching fruit flies die.

The bible would be a lousy reference. It was written down over many decades
by numerous authors. On top of that what was written about was passed on by word of mouth.
We all know how word of mouth can be distorted by numerous recountings.

True but they put in that book what they believed in that time and a lot of which comes from aristoteles

I am not so sure about that. Aristotle was known for his scientific/logical
thinking. I do not see where religion at that time was in synch with science.
They aooear to have been competing schools of thought. Please show me an example of where aristotle would be referenced in the bible.

Well the Earth Centered universe was his idea

That is why Copernicus has been so importnant because he was willing to questioning the bible eventhough he used to be a priest

OOC.

Ok. Here is the deal. I believe that there is something Greater than myself at work in the world. I am not so egocentric to believe that all this was created for my enjoyment. I refuse to believe that this is all for chance. There really isn't one Idealogy that I follow. I think most of them have good points and bad points. Even Jerome's atheism IE not believing in a central God figure has merit at times.

I think The Bible is a good book that has a lot of good stories that have a lot of merit. We can learn from the ideals that are put forth here. But at the same time, I don't believe that it is best if women have to be covered and not sit with the men in church, they have to walk behind us and be led by use like sheep. I think the problems with the new testament is that some of it (letters from Paul) was good for that time. What is the proper way to dress in that time is not the same for today. At the time, what he said was correct and fashionable for women at the time. Times change.

I'm not saying that The Bible is not an important book. I think it is. I just don't think that it is the word of God. I think it is, at best, a water down translation of God's word through the imperfect minds of 'Man'.

I'll get off my soap box now and watch for lightening bolts.
