when we speak of xp sweet spots and casting/camping unto spell book proficiency, i cant help but wonder: these hours that i spend camping will eventually add up to a significant amount of time. are events in this game triggered by my party doing something or talking to someone, or is the storyline hurtling onward totally oblivious to me? will i eventually miss/screw up an event entirely by being distracted by these focus camps? do i only have a certain amount of time to move from storyline event to event?
anyone?

As I understand it, it's completely nonlinear, and not time orient. You can spend 30 levels in the Monestary and be okay!

It was something I was worried about as well, because in Wizardry 7, everything was so time-sensitive as to when you got the maps; other NPC's would "beat you" to the punch and then, you would not only NOT get the experience for finding them, but would also have to fork out 10,000 GP to get the bally things (assuming you could find the NPC's that had them) or kill the NPC and get on the bad side of that faction. That and the fact that there was one map (the Legend map, I think) that was absolutely imperative to getting to the endgame, and if you didn't get it, all was screwed. I remember "hacking" a couple of games for friends who never could find the Legend map just so they could complete the game.

I'm glad things changed in this game regarding that kind of an issue.
