I gave Illithium to that bloody artist and need more to upfrade Mace of Disruption. Where do I get more Illithium?

Upgrading Mace of Disruption AND solving the quest is only possible by giving Sir Sarles the faked alloy.

but wouldn't you be able to pick pocket it from him?? Or does it dissapear ( I gave him the illuthium too)
