I agree with John. The scope of the law is too large, it will never pass. This wil end up like the would-be law on child pornography.
Maybe if it was restricted to the coffee sold in restaurants and cafés... and colleges too, students are heavy cafeine users.

What in the world does this law have to do with a police state? You sure you've read the same article as we did?
And flibulzbuth, great post!

Personally I think that it's a lovely law, sometimes you need a bit of strictness to get people to do what's "for the greater good". They're often too stupid and selfish to do it of their own free will, even if it's something that's for THEIR "greater good" as well.....

Amen,
It’s a great Idea. If only we were to see more of this kind of thing,
It paves the way for a better world, for all of us, I can only wish that it could be implemented properly, and over the entire nation.
It's a nice example of people acting to control the market in accordence with fair and just principles.

Yeah!
I mean why even bother about the rest of the world, lets just nuke them all.
Who cares about whether people are starving in Columbia,
It’s their fault for being poor right?
And after all why should we give them a fair price?
We’d end up with a tiny bit less money right?

Orson Wells was an actor,
You may remember him from “Citizen Kane” and “The Third Man”,
George Orwell wrote “1984” and “The Road To Wigan Pier” and many others, for example “animal farm” & “down and out in Paris and London”

I'm sure you'd care a lot more if it was you and your family getting only that much per kilo Hunter, and by use of this wonderful little thing we should hope to have called empathy I think you can see why it should matter to you.
And besides, the other reasons Neb mentioned, that should be pretty convincing.

once again the dictatorial left speaks.the freedom of the people to choose what they wish to purchase is not as important as these little dictator wannabes feeling good about themselves.what's next?will they pass a law stating that they will no longer let people own cars with combustion engines in berkley?who cares if the people have to pay more.who cares if they lose a little more freedom.if it helps these loons feel better about themselves it's worth it.

I mean who wants to pay an extra few €’s on the price of their coffee right?
Why shouldn’t we pay a little more, so these farmers can have a much better life?

One word: Greed
