I hope someone likes Calamari

Ive read that there as giant squids around Antarctica and these species have tentacles that are between 200 and 300 feet long. They have to be that long because of the lack of plankton and other life in waters that frigid.

NZ had one of these wash up on our shores back in the 70s or 80s, apparently they feed off blue whales and stuff don't think they'd be interested in puny humans though

Just did a search on Google and found out it was actually only '93...

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (CNN) -- A rare giant squid was caught by a New Zealand research ship Wednesday.

The 8-meter, 1-ton creature was captured off the country's south island coast two weeks ago. The female is one of only 20 caught in the world in the past decade.

It's only 10 centimeters short of the New Zealand record for a giant squid.

The squid will be preserved for research.

It does have a pic but won't let me paste it - go to this place and it's about half way down the page - not the best pic sorry

Whenever someone states that a giant squid has been found, 'I hope someone likes Calamari' is always the first joke
