Ok, this might seem a bit funny, but I can't find a way to deal with Ogremoch, the prince of Earth in Sendai's Enclave. You have to beat him in order to get to fight Diaytha. I can kill his two servants, but he just seems too strong. My companions fall down after 2 or 3 hits each. Here is my party:
Monk (my character) -lvl. 26 Sarevok -lvl. 25 Valygar -lvl. 21 Cernd -lvl.21 Jan -thief lvl. 19, illusionist lvl. 15 Did any of you ever have problems with this one? I remember when I played ToB last time I was stuck on the very same spot. I did, eventually, kill him, but I don't really remember what tactic I used. While I don’t know about Ogremoch specifically some things come to mind.
He may need blunt weapons to damage him, check to see if you get a “weapon ineffective” message Buff well before hand Try casting breech on him to knock down whatever defenses he has Slow might be a good spell to try as well Don’t forget about summons…is always good to keep something between you and someone as tough as he is. True any summons won’t last long but he will still need time to take them down.

Ah, I remember fighting him... very evil. Made Korgan blow up in bloody chunks.
Summons summons summons, I cannot stress how important they are. Have Cernd cast some elemental summons before entering that room, they'll help somewhat. As Iron Dragon said, buff up. Use spells like Defensive Harmony to raise your defense, Invisibility 10ft Radius so that you have the element of surprise. experiment and don't be afraid to take risks. When I did it, it was a blow to lose Korgan, but I finnaly had won the battle. I saved and tried many times again, and couldn't beat him. |

Thanks. I managed to do it using summon greater elemental (Cernd's ability) and now I'm up on a fight with Sendai. This fight I remember and it wasn't easy at all.
Thx again.

OK, I did her and all lvls of Watcher's Keep excluding the 6th (imprisoned one) cause I want to finish Abazigal first.
The problem again is Draconis. I remember I had problems with the one last time I played and many people said that Abazigal is an easier fight than Draconis. I agree. So, any tips on dealing with Draconis? I tried sequenced 2x lower res and breach, then attack with fighters using greater whirlwind while sorcerer casts another sequencer with 2x greater malison so he can help as well. It didn't work. They just die too fast. I'm not sure if I should concentrate on him solely or should I first deal with invisible stalkers he summons. And, are there any spells which protect from his dragon buff or whatever that ability's called. Oh, and one more thing. I'm roleplaying so I don't want to use any cheesy tactics like setting a billion of traps and then lure him to go over them.

I forgot to put these in. I think those stats should be enough to deal with a simple red dragon, but my approach to the problem is not good.
Sarevok -lvl. 28 Valygar -lvl. 24 Cernd -lvl.24 Jan -thief lvl. 21, illusionist lvl. 16 Monk (my character) -lvl. 30 Str 22 Dex 18 Con 18 Int 9 Wis 9 Cha 12

Have your sorceror cast a spell sequencer of greater malisons. Simultaniously, have jan cast lower resistance on him (I'm not sure if this is needed). Then have you monk use Quivering palm and attack. With luck, Draconis will fail his save vs. death...unless he's got some sort of uber-save vs. death. I don't know if magic resistance plays a role in the attack, but I think it does.

Nope, Magic Resistance shouldn't affect Quivering Plam, if it does, then it's a bug. (As Quivering Palm is not a magical ability)

Summon some Mordy swords and hopefully they will try and contain the stalkers etc. I also summoned a Plantar to help with the fight. If you have spellstrike it will take down all of his defenses increasing your ability to hit him (though with Jan just being level 16 you mihgt not have level 89 spells). I have never played a Monk so can't help there. Do you have any weapons that do extra damage to dragons? There was a sweet Halberd from SoA if memory serves.
I also thought Draconis was tougher than Abizigail (until Tactics that is). Summons help a lot. Also, protection from Fear or chaotic command (or whatever the priest spell is that protects against confusion and fear) are helpful. It is never fun to have your PC or NPC's running around "yellow". Good luck, it is a fun battle! Peace, John. |
