Hi there, I finished BG2 and am looking for a new RPG to play thats as good or nearly as good. First of all, I have a large monitor so I have to be able to play at a minimum of 800x600.

Question: if I buy Icewind Dale AND the new exapnsion pack (HOWinter) will I be able to play just the original Icewind Dale from the start at 800x600 ??

Question: are there any other games I should consider that can run at 800x600 or above (e/g/ planetscape: torment)

Question: is Icewind Dale particularly linear. I thought the BG2 was fantastic in chapetr 2 just running around doing what quests I wanted and finding stuff/meeting people etc.. & building up experience. But from chapeter 3 onwards it became just liek a walkthrough.... (yawn !)

many thanks in advance for your help

Richard

I ran IWD on a 800X600 no problems.

Planescape torment is a great Game if you like Lost of text dialogs a plot twist, The Choices you make either in Text or action will eventualy change your alliment, You start as True Neutral then when the game notes your aliment it changes: I finnished the game 3 times with these aliment Neutral Good, Lawful Good, Lawful Neutral

There is very little combat compared to other game in the Interplay line of Ad&d.

If you don't like Linear games then IWD might be a little disapointing

You start In easthaven, Onece you leave for the expidition (No Choice), You find your self in Kuldahar, where you follow clue to one place to the next. You can't go somewhere without finding a crutial clue (with is usualy at the end of the level you are on), You can return to previous places, all Save Kuldahar and the Hand will have any changes.

You will probably find IWD awfully restrictive after playing BG/BG2 , but it is a very good game nonetheless and if you do decide to purchase it strongly recomend you buy it with the expansion pack, it makes a lot of welcome changes.
