Well try Doom3, although I have heard it's not too exciting online. Never tried it online yet myself though, Il have to give it a go.

The thing is, you don't have to pay for DoD. Just go download it off of Steam.
The only reason one would buy HL2 gold is the strat guide. Ah well, I'm hopefully gonna go down to wal mart and pre-order HL2 today! Hurrah!

The expansion for Call of Duty is worth it! There's jeeps, tanks and more added to mulitplayer and the single player campaigns are awesome.
