Hi,
Iīm new in the W&W Universe and so I got a few Questions..

1. There are lots of Characters and many Roles.. what seems to be a good combination of Characters and Roles..?? My first Party is:

Human (male) Warrior
Dwarf (male) Warrior
Elf (male) Wizard
Elf (female)Wizard
Whiskah (female) Priest
Ratling (male) Rogue

Is this an acceptable crew??

2. I read in some threads about "guildhopping" with role changing and about the Levelup, but i didnīt found anything about the real role change.. What is a good time to change the role seriously? I think in level 5- 6 in the former role?!

3. I didnīt found a Thiefguild in Valeia and I think there is none. So what about my Rogue..? Is he condemned to earn less experiance, because he is not able to change his role in the guilds? Where is the thief guild? And is it a good idea, to wait with the guild-quests till I can travel to IshadīNa?

4. I read, that it is senseless to reload , when a char get an level up and get his Hitpoints and his ability points, because of tghe System the HP are generated by the Game.. and the number of ability points depends on the intelligence..
but I tried it.. my Warrior got after some reloads now three times 12 HP , so he is now lvl 3 and got 36 HP.. and sometimes he got 1, sometimes 2 and sometimes 3 ability points.. so Iīm not sure, that it is senseless to reload, isnt it??!!

Hope for some help

1. Yes, it is of course. I would replace the rogue by a warrior class and try to role change this warrior into a barbarian ASAP. You have found the reason already: there is no guild in Valeia which the rogue can join. Therefore, the rogue is losing opportunities to train. A barbarian is a full sized rogue (in fact, a barbarian is much better than a rogue). Therefore, check the needed stats for a barbarian and try to create a warrior that could role change immediately to a barbarian. Note that you can donate in the temple, even if you aren't a member of the Priest guild, and improve your PRE by one each time you level up.

2. A difficult question. I am doing the following:
- Keep a role as long as you have some reason for keeping it. The reason can be a role specific trait, gaining spells, and so on.
- Try to reach "final roles" planned for your people (except zenmaster and valkyrie).
- Restart Adventures.
- Play the whole game from scratch with your final team.

3. Sorry. We have discussed it already. The nearest Pawn Shop (the Thieves Guild) is in Ishad N'ha.

4. Well, it's possible NOW. But you will see what will happen next. You have "too many HPs" at present, therefore, expect that you will be unable to get more than 1 or 2 HPs next level up. In the other words, you will lose all your effort to get HPs now.
Trying to get a good roll with HPs is futile. You can gain once or twice but then you get the dreaded "1 HP" and all your effort is gone. I consider a better idea concentrating on ability points and ignoring HPs completely. The ability points are controlled as well but you have a good chance to get 2 APs for a long time. This allows you to improve your characters quickly an to allow them changing roles soon. You always get your HPs in the end. You can play with low HPs some time but then you get a "bolus" surely.

Welcome to the board Halx. We are at your service, as Radek so perfectly has shown you. I wonīt add much but I say keep the rogue your first time around. You will find that W&W is a very versatile game and that you canīt choose the wrong characters in the beginning. With all the class changes it tends to even out.

Welcome to the board, Halx!

It is generally wise to keep any magic user in current role until they have learned all the spells that you want them to learn (not all spells are worth having - like blood to gold ). While the W&W character development is very flexible allowing you to switch roles easily, it can be a bit difficult getting those high level spells if you switch roles too soon. Beyond that, just about anything works!

I personally like having a Rogue in my starting party. There is no Thieves' Guild in Valeia which is the downside but I like rogues anyways!

Have fun and keep us posted on how your game is going!!

And a very warm welcome to the board from me as well. It seems that the people who have already posted their replies have more or less said what has to be said about this issue. Character development is very much an individual thing. One gets a lot of new input and ideas during the game and so one's plans usually change sometimes during the first run through the game. Please, do ask if there is anything further you wish to know of if you run into any problems in your travels in the Gael Serran. We are all too happy to help.

Welcome to the boards, halx. May your travels through the Gael Serran increase the store of knowledge for us all.

As has been pointed out, there are no wrong ways to play the game. The important thing is to...

is to wat? bungleau! dun juz end ur sentence there!!!
anyway, the others here haf roughly mentioned everything out already:-
1)do not change roles until u got at least lvl 7 STONE spells....(the other spell schools can be done wif other roles, so the stone is the 1st priority)
2)i myself used a rogue. u dun lose opputurnities to train ur rogue, u juz get to change roles later, that is IF u can tahan the time needed......
3)btw, how can u get 3 ability points?!?!?! i tried many times and only got up to 2 points! u are lucky....... for the hp thingy, juz keep reloading until u get at least a 15hp + 2 ability for fighters and 7hp + 2 ability for magic users (around there lar, no need to be exact...)
|
ur party is juz fine Halx, since u have 2 wizards. u can either haf both specialise in stone OR haf 1 in stone and the other in sun to balance it out. having elves for wizards is good coz of their "quick learner" trait! ALSO, welcome to the board and good luck cleaning the Gael Serran!!!

Spot on, Gnarf! The idea was to keep reading down the page.

And I'll disagree, LiOnHe@rT. You lose the chance to train in the guilds in Valeia because your rogue can't join them. He or she can finally join them once he/she gets a class change quest, but they can't do that until Ishad N'ha. So the rest of the party is going to get five to ten chances to train in the various guilds in Valeia before the rogue gets to train once.
