Gray mage and Kdog,

I saw your alls posts earlier about being in Desert Storm. I was with the 844th Engineers (combat) (heavy) Battalion. We were with the 20th Engineer Brigade out of Ft. Bragg. We where between a town called Rahfa and Hafar Al Botten (not sure if that spelled right) all the way over on the left flank. Where were you guys?

Anyone else that was there go ahead and respond!!!

Does sitting in the gulf firing missiles in the general direction count?

I was on the U.S.S. Horne. Yes yes we made fun of the name too It was designated CG 30 . CG is supposed too mean "C"ruiser "G"uided missile but we just referred too it as Constantly Gone. We were always underway. It has long since been decommissioned (1993)But it was so old that we called it the dirty thirty too. Had some great stories to tell from that ship. We sat 10 miles from the forward shore and shot down airplanes and fired missiles in the general direction all while creeping along in a known minefield. It's by sheer luck we did'nt hit one.

Oh I forgot to tell you what I did. I was a welder/damage control person. I haven't done that in a long time though. I have since transferred into a special warfare unit known as Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Right now I have a kick ass job playing with dolphins.
