The Magnificent Seven is fianlly being released on DVD...
May 8th...

I've been waiting 3 years for this, ever since I got my DVD player. This movie is the only reason I own a VHS machine...

I'm getting close to my goal of having all the Kurosawa films and the Western remakes...

This one is weird, I bought Seven Samurai in 1999, and they are just now releasing the western...

ah well...

Just wanted to tell someone that I was excited...

my girlfriend already went home... I'm all alone

Good News Indeed,

Watched Magnificent Seven when it was on television recently, and I wouldn't mind seeing Seven Samurai again, Just have to get some DVD playing software for my computer (got a drive but no software )

Looks great, i haven´t seen a good western since Clint Eastwood stoped playing in them. (The good, the bad and the ugly was one of the best movies i´ve ever seen)

Amen on that - I love that movie, especially the final scene in the big circular cemetary.

BTW, I need some advice, how old would you think a kid must be to watch this kind of Westerns ? My kid will be 10 in 2 months, and all the westerns he has seen so far are the 'Trinita' series (I know, I know, I should have put quotes around 'Western' speaking of Trinita ! )

Most of the Westerns I've seen are "old" films so don't have the gore of modern films. I mean people get shot and clasp their wound and fall down, but there is never a hole in their shirt!

Oh, I don't think that the problem is for these movies to be bloody or scary, but I am afraid that a kid would get bored at the long long scenes of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" or other Sergio Leone movies, because he would not be mature enough to see that the lengths are ironic, so if he was to watch these Westerns too young, he would never want to see them again when older.
Hence my question : How old should a kid be to fully appreciate these particular Western movies without getting bored ? Do you think 12 is OK, or should I wait a bit longer ?
