Hmmm... a search through the W&W forum provided this link to Wyvern's Emporium of Lost and Unobtainable Items, the guide to hacking W&W save games. Unfortunately, she doesn't list the Masque hex code in there, but I saw in another post that she has it (or at least did). You can send her a PM, or hope that she stops by here shortly to review this post.

Alternatively, using that post as a guide, you could do some experimentation to see just what codes belong to what items. That might be a worthy addition to the Best Tips thread...

Erm... Bungleau... I already linked to that topic further up this thread. AND I also added it to the best tips thread as I promised, I would do in my previous post...

Whoops! Guilty as charged

I guess that's what happens when I take a week's vacation... I leave too many brain cells behind

Bsftcs did indeed provide the same link, and I did indeed fail to re-read the thread. However, I do believe I added some new information that Wyv had, at one time, the codes for the Masque. So I added at least a teeny tiny bit of value, no matter how small

Consider me punished

Well, no harm done, and no offence intended.

But I am glad I helped you keep you on your toes. We would not want you to lose your sharpness - it would be a loss for this forum.

Have you had a good vacation by the way?

No worries, bsftcs. A dose of humility always helps

Vacation was good, and it's over. So now I have to get on a plane and head to Virginia for a day... yum...

Mask of Evil -

Okay this is what I have written down. I'm sure that I could make sense of it if I were hacking this item - I hope it may make sense to anyone in need:

BE 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 21 (M a s q u e Of Evil) 21 ....
.....................................00 00 00..00
.....................................FB FF 0A..64

Okay - you're replacing some junk item (do read my instructions in the other thread - very important AND MAKE A BACKUP!!!!!!!)

Figure out where a code starts - and replace the junk before the name with the code section starting with "BE - 21" - move to the text side in the hex editor and replace the name of the item with "Masque of Evil" NOW -
locate the "Q" in the name - find the cooresponding part in the hex side, drop down two rows and replace whatever is there with the "FB" "FF" is 2 rows down from u, "0A" from the e - "64" is 2 rows down from the space between "of" and "Evil".

If you're confused, I don't blame you!
