which game is this from?

you need some documents or something similar from this this guy in the tavern. you can get them through some dialogue options, but you could also pickpocket him then talk to him and he'll acknowledge that they're gone, or you could use one of the dialogue options in which you snap his neck or something and thus kill him but you need dexterity prequisite or something (monk class??).

I just remember this scene but can't remember which game it's from. it's either Baldur's gate series, iwd series or nwn. it's not planescape torment (which is what google returns for "pickpocket snap neck walkthrough").

I was just at the Sea's bounty rescuing Nalia and it reminded me of this quest. But I couldn't get the neck snap or the pickpocket acknowledgment option from officer dirth (the one who has documents needed to rescue Nalia) so I thought it was something else. I forgot about the Edwin quests.
