Cos here's one! Don't PM or ask for the answer, I have no idea! It has me and a couple of my friends stumped!

There are three words in the english language that end in "gry".
ONE is angry and the other is hungry. EveryONE knows what the third ONE means and what it stands for. EveryONE uses them every day, and if you listened very carefully I've given you the third word.

>What is it?
_______gry

Now the riddle includes the caps on the ONE words. Anyone got the answer? I would PM it if someone wants to work it out for themselves...

IGNORE THIS RIDDLE NOW! LOOK AT THE POST BELOW FOR THE CORRECT WORDING! THE ANSWER DOES NOT MAKE SENSE THE WAY I HAVE PHRASED IT!

Someone's given you the question slightly wrong. It's more like...

Quote:

Angry and hungry are two words that end in -gry. There are three words in the English language. What is the third one? Everyone knows what the third one means and what it stands for. Everyone uses them every day, and if you listened very carefully I've given you the third word.
If you read it through that way, the answer is more clear. Not clear, just more clear.

This riddle seems to be a little bit different. There are no other words in the English language that ends with -gry. No words used daily at least. I know Shakespear uses anhungry in Coriolanus I believe. I'll google it and see.

Ah the dreaded GRY puzzle rears its ugly head again. I think the correct version should be:
Quote:
"Think of words ending in 'gry'. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

I'll go with Rimjaw's version. If you google for it, there are a number of variations. All end up in the same place -- a place where "gry" doesn't matter.

There is no real answer in modern english. Here's the snopes page on it:
