I have been tring to create a sword for my thief in BGI.I have Infinity Explorer and Near Infinity also Gate Keeper but,I have not been able to edit the .ITM files to make what I want or, change anything like, to make the moonblade equipible.(should be simple).Maybe I.m not using the tools I have correctly or I still need something else.A few years ago when I played the whole BG series through I remember downloading coustom items (Light Sabers,Arrows that spawned creatures).I havent been able to find A web site like that yet.If anyone has any advice or if I have to get into BGII before I can do anything like that please advise.

The short answer is..yes. But it's not easy because it's confusing. Basically what you have to do is...
1. Edit the item, and RENAME it. 2. Copy it into the 'Override' folder. 3. CLUA the item into your inventory. ...at least that's how I got it to work for me. Or you can go here,,, http://www.magma.ca/~carl2/arundor/abode/ ..and check out out the numerous pre-made items for the aspiring powergamer.
