Well I've been putting off playing the Official Campaign for quite a while now, but I'm determined to finally beat the durned thing. Can anyone recommend a somewhat interesting character class to use to accomplish this task?

well, the easy way would be to simply export the character you have now and use a leveling/equiping mod to give him more power, then restart whatever chapter you were having trouble with.

If you were going to make an entirely new character and replay the whole thing, i suggest a fighter or a barbarion; If you go with fighter, you might want to duel to cleric so that you end up with a 10 fighter 10 cleric at the end; this will allow you to cast heal if you chose healing as a focus, and magic youll be able to cast stoneskin acid arrow etc; basicaly making a tank fighter who can do wizardly and clericly things.

Notes: when making *any* class, it is important to have a good constitution - which means atleast 14, the less you have, the less your likely to survive any fight.

I recommend wizard. Specialist class. (Illusionist)

Always playing with those spells, figuring out combinations. Summoned monster to help you fight. I do well with them, and the right equipment.

I'm just starting NWN, in other games the monk was really good after a little while, is it still good in NWN?

Personaly I like rangers, druids, or the monks. These are a little bit different and really fun, but go for your personal fave, its more fun.

I played through as a cleric, and I was pleasantly surprised. Much improved class over previous editions. No longer limited to blunt weapons, and if you spent one feat (Weapon Proficiency-Martial), they can use all of the weapons warrior types can. The cleric's spell lists are much improved (go up to 9th level now, with many of the spells at 8th and 9th level being the ones defined as "Quest spells" in previous editions), having summon monster spells, etc. If you play one, take the Animal Domain; it bumps up your summoning by one level (cast Summon Monster I and get the monster from Summon Monster II). They also have Harm, which is absolutely awesome in this game (knock something down to one hit point instantly, and many of the mini bosses give up when too injured and give you info, so really useful to take out all of the boss monsters). Monks are cool, too, but wizard types are a little difficult (unless you install a certain mod, you end up opening all of the doors, leaving you in the front line when you get rushed; this ticked me off to no end when I tried playing one).

As far as opening doors goes. Get either potions of invisibility or a ring go invisible then open the door. This gives you the chance to figure out how best to destroy the room. Also you can casp sleep and other non attacking sleeps while still invisible.

I was a little thrown off by the leveling setup (class-wise) after havnig payed BG2 for a while. At what level would you guys recommend that I stop putting levels into Monk and start into cleric, cause I thats the combo I'm going for.
