Slackerboy: Basically Wizardry is a series of 1st-person view CRPG's with multiple characters (generally up to 6 in each game). It is similar to Might and Magic, if you've ever played that series, and the SSI Gold Box games, but has its own gaming world and rules. It is unlike the AD&D based games such as Baldur's Gate and BG2, Diablo/II, and other 3/4" view games in which you view the characters rather than see things from the characters' viewpoint.

Read the thread http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...ML/000017.html for a better history of the Wizardry saga.

That link that Carg just posted also has a lot of good maps and spoilers for some of the older Wizardry games. Make sure you select the PC version, though, rather than Nintendo, if you're playing them on the computer, as several dungeon levels (Wiz 1 in particular) are completely different between the two systems.

The last time I remember things, I was a wanted Elf in the City of Splendors... a little problem with Larceny, werefoxism, marking the Wands family Statue... there is a mistake here I'm no guard, I'm not even a fighter! It must be a trap... Quick the Greek fire oil!

Azlan: Yes. You can transfer characters from Wiz 6 to Wiz 7, and supposedly from Wiz 7 to Wiz 8. However, you can't transfer from 6 to 8. I guess you could import characters from 6 into 7, and then immediately transfer to Wiz 8 when it comes out...but they'll be considerably weakened.

Sounds very cool, Saz. It'll be interesting to play a 1st person CRPG for a change. The last one I played was the Bards Tale, 15 years ago (more than half my lifetime!)

Well, I have come into possession of Wizardry 6 and 7, for which I am forever grateful. I took a quick peek at 6 last night. Looks like I'm going to be losing more and more sleep over the next couple of weeks.
