From the stand point of a forward deployed US Navy enlisted member; While not having an personal issue with sexual preference of fellow members in the service. The main concern i have is aboard ship berthing for male and female are separate to prevent sexual relations between crew members also minimizing the risk or sexual assault. So by these standards and rules gays and straights would have to be separate, however under the same standards and rules that still would not be sufficient. That means the only logical berthing situation would be 1 gay female and 1 gay male to a room and that out of the question due to space limitations on board ships only other fix would be complete integration of male, female, straight, and gay sharing berthing which would get way out of hand on long deployments. Other problem I can see would be an increase in Fraternization, Favoritism, and false sexual harassment claims.

Genuine concerns raised their blind prophet, but in the end no different to those faced by large corporations and indeed other western armed forces. Management or command especially at middle to lower level will be the key and obviously there will be problems but none that are truly insurmountable.
