Is it possible to import BGI or BG2 characters into Icewind Dale? If so How?

I doubt it, due to the subtle differences of the games, but maybe someone else knows how to do it.

It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE.

The best you can hope for is to use Dalekeeper to create a copy of the character but items won't transfer.

Impossible is a strong term; but in the case of the casual user, it is very close to the truth.

I think sound sets are interchangeable; but you might have to remap them, so that your Fighter doesn't scream, "Come here, ye wretch!" when you ask him to dialog with a merchant.

Both sizes of pictures would have to be cropped to the exact specs for IWD.

Pics and sound files would all have to be manually placed in the correct folders and named correctly.

Dalekeeper would have to be used to edit an IWD-created character to the stats of the target BG character. Even then the "imported BG" character would have to conform to IWD rules (e.g., your CLVL 11 BG Bard would all of a sudden acquire the ability to ONLY sing the IWD version of all the Bard's songs). Items from BG could be hacked in only if they were also found in IWD. Otherwise, a closely matched item could be substituted.

So this might be close enough to give you the acceptable illusion that your BG character actually crossed the rift and made it into IWD adventure land. Of course, now you're going to have to roll his buddies...

Or use Blucher's download of all the BG2 NPCs.

I know that this threads quite old so theres probably no-one watching, but i think that it's possible to use the
CHEATERSDOPRASPER:CreateItem("******", #) cheat to take items from BG to IWD but you would need the correct item codes.
