Is there any way to change your portrait/appearance/colouring AFTER starting a game like we could in BG? I say this as i've discovered a great custom portrait online and, my chars hair is annoying the hell out of me.

introduce him to a lawnmower for a haircut he'll never forget

and i would assume if the portrait is a .bmp file or the like stored somewhere in the directories (havent checked tbh) then its simply a matter of editing it then reimporting it, as i doubt the saved game stores your portrait merely a pointer to the portrait already stored in the nwn files. (ie temporarily replace the portrait you do have portrait1 rename it to portrait2 the one you want in whatever directory its in just backup the one portrait just in case, the in game pointers would do the rest for you.

Blah I know, it was my first idea too but strangely it didn't work. I sought out my saved game and simply changed the portrait there but when i started the game there was no differance. Maybe it does, as you say store it elsewhere.....but where? It's kinda shit the way they don't allow customization innit, especially when your just getting used to all the different models/styles/colours.

There is a character editing program on the net called Leto... I think the URL is http://www.weathersong.net/weathersong/leto/ . Good luck, it worked nicely for me.
