I'm planning on starting IWD/HOW this weekend, I have not played IWD yet, but have played BG 1&2 and have been playing PnP D&D for many years. So I have a good feel for the mechanics. Is it possible to start from level 1 in Heart of Fury mode? It seems that if you could make it though the early battles you'd gain xp fast. Should I attempt it or is it "impossible"?

Well just bought HoW today, and I'm about 3/4 through IWD. HoW can either be started by importing the IWD final save, or by going through a door in game in IWD. However this door is some way into IWD, so you can't start HoW in HoF mode form in game, as far as I know. Someone whose a little further ahead should be able to clarify this.

I think it's impossible, without cheating.
I've beaten IWD and HOW in normal mode and started IWD in Heart of Fury mode just recently, and I'm having a hard time. I think you would enjoy the games much more in normal mode. Just try the first combat with the goblin if you don't believe me (you can always modify the config while playing). ------------------ Wizbane |

Ah, sounds like I'm going to have to try that mode with a level 1 party. I'[m having enough trouble with a high level party at the moment. Main problem is the monsters have so many hitpoints it takes awhile to whittle them down to size for the funal satisfying *chunk*!

I guess I'll play once though on normal level and then plan on playing a second time though in HOF, assuming of corse that the game stays interesting. Is there enough replay value to going though twice with the same characters?

Not that I can see. I'm only going through again to see if I can hit lvl 30 with my bard.
Anybody try this mode using one character? I thought about it, but hten I decided not to for now. |
