Question Mark

I'm currently planning on multiclassing my Sorc. to a fighter...
I'm thinking of doing Fighter (5) / Sorcerer (15)...
Is this a good mix? Would I have fun with it?
Would it be wise of me to go forth with such a mix???

Thanks to all in advance.

Personally I think it's pointless to take five fighter levels whilst taking 15 spellcaster. You'll be running in combat alot with a 5 fighter...and if that's the case why enter melee at all? And if *that's* the case why bother wasting 5 levels on a class you won't really use?

If you are insistent on it a better choice would be to take a cleric 15 and back it up with 5 fighter, since clerics naturally have a higher AB and suffer none of the arcane failure crap.

I'd say go pure..although I have no experience with the Sorc class personally so other may have some more combo advice.

would be better to stay pure class. SW's first post has a good point, why try and be a fighter, if just lvl 5? I'd say that with an arcane caster, you need every lvl you can get, so that you can get all the spells possible. A lvl 5 fighter is far from a tank, especially with the armor limitations, *knowing this will get some groans from the community, posts anyway* would be better to go rogue, and go for dodge, and uncanny dodge and other defensive feats, rather than try to go melee. Arcane spell failure is a real drag, especially in a combat situation. Fighter's are built for heavy armor, and you can get like 40 to 50% chance to fail an arcane spell in that. Pure class, or rogue, and focus on bow, or crossbow, stay out of melee, and drop as many spells as possible on them.

Yeah I was thinking Rogue too. That way if you insist on getting physical with your opponents you can jump in for a quick sneak attack and then jump out again only to hurl a spell or two at your foes. Better still, use the bow and flank or get behind anything and everything.

If you had SOU I'd recommend the Shadowdancer class as it would serve this purpose well and compliment your class. You could wear armor as a Rogue once it's made for a Dex-Fighter (even as a fighter you can do this but here, as we said, it ain't a good idea).

I have a bunch of different characters and my newest is a BlackGuard Neutral Evil Alignment. He is still in development and only 6th level so far but is a force already and gets away with every thing by scaring the hell out of people, or just killing them. I think I'm starting to like this Blackguard best over all other characters. I've always played a Neutral or Good character before in all D&D games I've ever played. I guess the devil is finally comming out of me.

First come the standard single class characters I've used in NWN and a few in SoU

1st-is My Tank 17th level Human Fighter with power attack, cleave, and great cleave
2nd-is my wizard half/elf 15th level which gives him 30 spells in his spellbook and all the scrolls I can buy.
3rd-is my 18th level Human Paladin (I love the Turn dead)
4th-is my 15th level half-Orc Barbarian love those d12 hit dice

Then come the multiclass characters:

1st-11th level Fighter/ 9th level wizard, what he can't hack in two he can melt or fry with a spell or scroll.
2nd-Half-Elf 8th level fighter/ 4 level Rogue/ 5th level wizard
3rd-Human 13th level Paladin / 5th level Cleric
4th-Halfling 11th level rogue / 6th level Bard ( not real strong but a great Thief, sneeky and smart!)
5th-Human Paladin level 1 / Sorcerer level 17. With one level of Paladin I'm getting Divine Grace, Divine Health and all weapon and shield proficiencies. With the help of only one level of Palidin I can use all armor and weapons with no or very little penilty to spell casting. Then when all my spells run out I can pull my sword and shield out and protect myself.

For all sorcerers wanting just a few levels of fighter.

There's something you really , really , have to understand.

Tensors Transformation.
Double your hit points.
Fight like a fighter.
+2 flaming sword in hand.
Multiple attacks ...

This is on top of the usual buffs you cast before you cast the spell.

So let me see...
Bulls strength (+1d4+1 str)
Cats Grace (+1d4+1 dex)
Endurance (+1d4+1 con)
Protection from alignment Evil (immune to mind attacks)
Mage Armor (+4 AC)
Stone Skin (+100 hp, basically)

And then , on top of all that...

Tensors transformation.

A small handful of fighter levels are such a waste. even the weapon skills are wasted because tensors trans gives you that too.

Taking a level or two in Paladin might be a good idea for a Sorcerer. The Divine Grace is an excellent feat that will benefit the Sorcerer alot and you get some more weapon choices ( longbow anyone.)

I believe that Tenser's T. only gives you the simple weapon feat ( temporarly) and Sorcerers already start with that one. The rest applys though.
