Win ME is known to have troubles with games, old or otherwise. I suggest that you delete ME from your HD & install Win 98SE instead, much more stable, & yes you can have different OS's in separate partitions but use one OS to boot.

I suggest that delete the Windows ME, this stupid SO, it's broken down my file system, and I installed Windows 98 SE.
Go down with Windows ME ¬_¬ Between two worlds |

Ultima 7 is notoriously hard to get to run, especially on newer systems. Your machine is waaay too fast torun the game properly. I had to create a special DOS boot floppy to run the game on an old Pentium 120 and it was way to fast, even the slow down utility was of limited effect.
AND they will never rerelease that great game in an updated version because....STUPID Origin "LOST" the source code to a disk failure....they didn't hasve backups |

Agreed to all of the above about Win ME...the single worst operating system ever released by Microsoft, and that's saying something. Definitely roll back to Win98 SE, if you can get your hands on a copy of it.
Oh, and if your computer is running too fast for older DOS games, get a copy of Mo'Slo. You can download the evaluation version for free. Cheers, -Sazerac

Ditch ME... it will only cause you heartache.
Ultima VII was the last GREAT Ulitma... still high on my list of Adventure/RPG games. And as for a new release... check here, as of 7/Nov they just released V1.0 of Exult... a WIN32 port of the full Ulitma VII series (including add-ons) http://exult.sourceforge.net/ note: you still need the origonal games to play it [ 11-13-2002, 10:59 AM: Message edited by: Thoran ] |
