My elvin ranger has now been ready for awhile to adopt a familiar. We've now traveled Kuldahar and everything afterwards until the depths of Snake Eye thingey. We're now busy busting the leeettle weird, dimension gate jumpin', girl's place, but where's the owl or the bat, etc? (:-|

No, such spell in IWD. If you think about it it makes sense as you could have six critters running around.

NobleNick- that's a good one.

Seriously, though, I have not heard of a familiar in this game either. Is that something BG has?

Not so seriously, but something you might have been curious about- you cannot resurrect a dead cat.

Lymond, lol you are obssessed with that cat! Yeh in BG2 theres a spell called find familiar which lets the proganist (as long as your a mage) have a familiar. You get different once by what alignment you are and they stay with you for the whole game. If they die however, you lose one point of constitution. There pretty good though, you can put them in your back-pack and everything!

I have gone through both the IWD and HoW manuals, and I have found no reference to the ranger having this skill. Not to mention that I don't recall seeing any owls or bats anywhere in the game (but I haven't finished it yet).

The only special ability that I see is "Charm Person/Mammal", which is acquired at Level 8.

I would think that that's the icon you see under Special Abilities, but for that to work, you'd have to have an animal or person to target (charm).

If that isn't it, then I don't know what you mean, or why you think that you should have a "familiar" available to you in any case.

Am I missing something?
