A glitch?

I just went up to the upper levels in the Drow town. There is as circle platform along a right angled path. When i click there, the screen goes intoa sort of Auto Mode (sorta like the dreams where you just watch and you have no control over your characters). Then my party walks to the area and stand still and I have no control over them. I can see a Drow standing to the South but she/he/it is not doing anything. Is this a glitch?

EDIT) Also, the toolbar type things have gone and they wont come back with ANy of the keys!!!)

IIRC a minor non-important quest is supposed to trigger there, but can be easily glitched. It requires another char to walk up to you and if his way is blocked by anything he won't and thus the sequence will never end.
