Just north of the Stout Mines there is a body of charred remains that has the writ. It is in one of those little holes in the forest.

Most excellent. I found the writ on the body when I finished exploring the outside areas in this part of the Great Serran. Now, about the ore piles inside the mine? It says I need something when attempting to pick the ore up and I know I will need to do this when I get down to the Dragon Ore deposits. I tried a bucket but could carry it in my inventory in the true sense--only drag it around. What is missing? Do I only find what I need after a trolley ride? Thanks.

When you go to the abandoned mine you'll be attacked by at least one or two groups of the "Crazies" (the abandoned miners). After killing them, check the ground around them; they'll drop pick axes. This is what you need to mine the Ore. Most ore piles yield gems, which you can sell back in town; but in the Burning Caves, there's two of them that have the Dragon Ore.
